Our story

Fresh trout, rare crayfish and passionate hosts

Indulge in fine fish dishes without travelling all the way to the sea!.

Krebsbach is a fish restaurant near Meran that has been delighting patrons since 1960. It is run by the Höfler family, who have been operating their own fish farm for sixty years, hatching and rearing trout with exceptional care and dedication. As fish farmers and country people, the Höfler family cultivate a close relationship with nature. Flowing through our fish farm and ponds is the Krebsbach stream, a vital habitat for the white-clawed crayfish – an endangered freshwater species. At Krebsbach, we are deeply committed to protecting the South Tyrolean freshwater crayfish from extinction, ensuring it has a pristine environment in which to thrive. We are equally committed to offering our patrons delectable, homemade fish dishes that include fresh trout recipes in all variations.
